Please - No Junk ! We don't buy every guitar we see. We only buy and sell guitars we would play ourselves. Most Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacker, PRS, Martin, Guild, Epiphone and older Ibanez, Silvertone, Ampeg, G&L, Airline, National and other name brands are good candidates.
If you have a no-name guitar or a fairly new guitar and only paid a couple of hundred dollars for it you are probably better off selling it to somebody else.
Selling us your guitar or amp is an easy process. We have worked with thousands of sellers and purchased thousands of used and vintage guitars over the years so rest assured we are easy to do business with.
The First Step - In order for us to determine a price for your guitar or tube amp we will need to take a look at it to determine age, features and condition. The first step is to send us a little information on your guitar, bass or amp. We need a few photos, brand and model information. Here's a check list of what we need. Brief answers are OK, we will ask for more details if we need them.
A digital photo of the front and back of your guitar or amp
The brand and serial number (if available) of your guitar or Amp
When you purchased or inherited the guitar or amp
Briefly describe the condition and any major problems, cracks or damage
Please describe any modifications or changed parts you are aware of
Please include the state you are located in, phone and your preferred
email address
Please email your guitar or amp information to heith@used-guitar-buyer.com. We will generally get back to you in less than 24 hours to let you know if we are interested.
The Second Step - If we are interested in your guitar we may also need to do a visual inspection before we can make you an firm offer. This will depend on your guitar or amp, the quality of your photos and the nuances of your particular model. There are several ways for us to do this. If you're near Chicago you can bring your guitar or amp into our North Side shop for us to take a look. It's best to contact us before hand though to make sure we are interested in your particular model.
In some cases we will suggest shipping us (we pay shipping and insurance) your guitar at our expense in order for our Luthier to do an inspection. Headstock cracks, old repairs and major damage will effect the value of a guitar.
We also travel a great deal looking for guitars and we might be interested in traveling to a mutually agreeable location, particularly if you are selling an estate or complete collection. Please contact us for details on how we can set up an in-person inspection.
If you are considering selling your used guitar and you have any questions on how our process works please contact me with your prefered email or phone number (USA Only) and I will give you a shout. Thanks. Please send your request to heith@used-guitar-buyer.com
